Are there Hemorrhoids Exercises that can Relieve Discomfort?

It is possible that hemorrhoids exercises could improve your condition and prevent hemorrhoids from causing you more trouble. If you are lucky enough not to have suffered from hemorrhoids, then exercise will help you to avoid this uncomfortable and often painful condition.

Hemorrhoids are caused by excess straining in the lower back, abdominal and pelvic floor area when you are constipated or have diarrhea, obese, pregnant and during labor, or constantly lifting heavy weights. The strain causes the veins in the rectal area to become enlarged which can lead to painful symptoms.

If your job involves lifting heavy objects, you might have developed hemorrhoids like many body builders and weight lifters. To alleviate the pressure when lifting, make sure you breathe out when you lift and breathe in when you lower. Use your legs to lift rather than relying on the strength of your back, as this creates excess pressure on the anal area.

If you are over-weight or obese, your hemorrhoids have been caused by your weight putting extra pressure on the veins of the anus and rectum and interfering with circulation. Mild exercise and a high fiber diet will help you lose weight and reduce your hemorrhoidal symptoms.

You can change your diet, if you have constipation or diarrhea, to one that is high-fiber. Include more fruit, vegetables, whole grains and pulses. Your digestion is also affected by exercise or lack of it. Simple exercise improves the way your digestive system works to ensure your food is properly and completely digested before it reaches the bowel. Good digestion, with a fiber rich diet, ensures the stools are moist and bulky and able to move quickly through the intestines. This means you will not have regular constipation or diarrhea, and you will avoid hemorrhoids.

Exercise can be as easy as walking for 20 minutes, at least 5 times a week. You don't need to do strenuous gym workouts or get all hot and sweaty, just go for a moderate-paced walk on most day of the week. Some of your walking can be substituted with energetic gardening, shooting hoops with your kids, walking the dog or shoveling snow.

Women can prevent hemorrhoids by regularly doing pelvic floor exercises or Kegel exercises. Kegel exercise is likened to stopping the flow while you are urinating; this action uses and strengthens the muscles that support the vagina and rectum, thereby reducing hemorrhoids.

If you already have hemorrhoids, you may find that when you start to exercise, you experience some discomfort. Do what you can at the beginning, and increase your hemorrhoids exercise as you become more comfortable.
